Piye

Sign in and your account

Your Piye account holds your plan, credits, invoices and team. Here is how signing in works, on the web and in the desktop app, and what works without an account.

What your account is for

Your Piye account lives on piye.dev. It holds:

  • your plan and credits, which pay for Piye's AI;
  • your invoices and payment methods;
  • your team and the people you invite;
  • the computers signed in to Piye.

Your projects are not in your account. They stay on your computer as folders.

Create an account

Go to piye.dev/signup and sign up with Google, GitHub, or your email and a password (you confirm your email address with a code). Every new account starts on Starter, the free plan.

To get your 750 free credits, claim them in the Piye app: sign in and click Claim. That's all: no phone, no code. Free credits belong to one account per computer, and your email must be confirmed first. They last 30 days from the day you claim them, and come back every 6 months: Piye emails you, and the claim card returns in the app (or claim the renewal in Billing on the web). Using Piye with your own API keys needs no sign-in; you only sign in to claim free credits. See Plans and pricing.

Sign in to the desktop app

  1. In Piye, choose Sign in (on the start screen, in the account menu at the top right, or in Settings, Account).
  2. Your browser opens piye.dev. Sign in there if you aren't already.
  3. The page shows Use Piye on this computer and the account Piye will be signed in as. Continue.
  4. Piye receives the sign-in and shows your name, plan and credits.

Before you go on

Only continue on that page if you started signing in from the Piye app yourself. If you see it without having pressed Sign in in Piye, close it.

A release of Piye always signs in to piye.dev, never to another address.

Staying signed in

Piye keeps your sign-in fresh while you work, so you don't see the browser again unless you have been away a long time. If your sign-in has expired, the chat shows a sign-in card instead of an error; sign in again and carry on.

Your sign-in is kept in your computer's secure storage (the Keychain on a Mac, the system keyring on Linux), never in a project.

Switch account or sign out

Open Settings, Account:

  • Switch account opens your browser so you can choose another Piye account.
  • Sign out removes the sign-in from this computer.

On the web, Settings, Computers on piye.dev lists every computer signed in to your account, and Sign out there signs out the browser.

What you see in Settings, Account

When you are signed in, Settings, Account shows:

  • your name and email;
  • your current plan (Starter, Pro, Pro+, Ultra, Business or Enterprise);
  • Piye credits: credits left, what this period gave, what carried over from the last period, Starter credits and when they end, and bought credits;
  • buttons to see plans or manage billing on the web.

What works without an account

Piye opens and works without an account. Without signing in:

  • Code works in full as an editor, with your own API keys or local models through Ollama for AI. See Your own API keys and local models.
  • Visual needs Piye's AI, so building with it needs an account.
  • Handoff and the web console need an account.

Delete your account

Email support@piye.dev (there's a link under Settings, Session on piye.dev) and we delete your account and its data, as described in the Privacy Policy. Your projects on your computer are not affected.
