What Piye Cloud does
Piye's agents need an AI model to think with. Piye Cloud gives you those models without accounts, keys or bills at Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI or Mistral. You sign in to Piye once, and every model in Piye's catalog is available (on Starter, the models listed in Plans and pricing).
When an agent needs the model, Piye sends the request to Piye Cloud, which passes it to the model's maker and streams the answer back. The work is metered in credits.
What runs where
| On your computer | Through Piye Cloud |
|---|---|
| The agents themselves: planning, deciding, using tools | The request to the AI model and its answer |
| Reading and writing your files | |
| Running commands, previews, simulators and builds | |
| Your project, its history and Piye's notes |
The agent loop, your files and your tools never leave your computer. Only what the agent sends to the model goes out: the same thing that would go to the AI company if you used your own key. See Privacy.
Piye's agent
Running on Piye Cloud credits, Piye's agents have everything Piye can do: in Visual, the whole build pipeline with its checks and fixes; in Code, the full Code agent with its tools for the editor, terminal, previews, phones, deploy, Operations and more.
On your own API key or a local model, the Code agent has the standard IDE tools: files, the terminal, the editor and the chat. See Your own API keys and local models.
Signing in
Piye Cloud uses your Piye account. Sign in once from the desktop app, and Piye keeps the sign-in fresh while you work. If it ever expires, the chat shows a sign-in card. See Sign in and your account.
Visual always uses Piye Cloud
Visual builds on Piye Cloud credits, on every plan. The way it builds (Fast, Auto or Customize) is chosen in Visual and is described in New project options.
Turning it off
- Settings, AI, Disable AI turns off every AI feature in Piye.
- Privacy Mode blocks Piye Cloud and your own keys, so nothing about your code leaves your computer. Local models through Ollama keep working in Code. See Privacy.
- Only API keys (Settings, AI, in Code) runs Code's AI on your own keys only, never on credits.
