How updates arrive
Piye looks for a new version every few hours, by itself. You don't need to be signed in.
- On a Mac, the new version downloads in the background. When it's ready, a small card appears in the corner of the window: A new version of Piye is ready, with Restart now and Later. Restart now installs it straight away. If you choose Later, it installs the next time you quit Piye.
- On Linux, Piye can't replace a package your system installed, so the card says Piye (version) is out with Download, which opens the download page. Install the new
.debor.rpmthe same way as the first one; your settings and projects stay.
Later hides the card until Piye starts again.
Check for updates yourself
Switch to Code, open Settings, Developer and find Updates:
- Check for Updates looks right now and says whether Piye is up to date or a new version is available.
- Auto-Update is on by default. Turn it off and Piye only looks when you press Check for Updates.
- View Changelog opens the changelog on piye.dev, with what changed in each version.
Which version you have
About Piye shows the version you are running and which Piye Cloud it uses (piye.dev for every release). It is at the bottom of Settings, Developer in Code, and of Settings, Privacy & about in Visual.
Release channel
Every release is on one channel, Stable. There are no beta or alpha channels to choose from.
Note
Your projects, settings, chats and sign-in stay as they are when Piye updates. Updates change Piye itself, never your files.
