Billing, VAT and invoices

How paying for Piye works, from checkout to invoices, VAT, plan changes, refunds and payment problems. Payments are processed by Stripe.

Where billing lives

Everything about paying is on the web, in Billing on piye.dev: your plan, credits, payment methods, pay as you go and invoices. In the app, Settings, Account and the account menu show your plan and credits, with a button that opens Billing.

Payments are processed by Stripe. Piye never sees or stores your full card number.

Prices and VAT

Every price Piye shows is before VAT ("€25 + VAT a month"). At checkout:

  • Stripe adds the VAT for your country and shows the total before you pay.
  • A business in another EU country can add its EU VAT number: no VAT is charged (reverse charge), and the invoice says so.
  • Promo codes are entered at checkout, on monthly plans (a yearly plan is already 2 months free).

Subscribing and changing plans

  • Subscribe from the pricing page or from Billing, monthly or yearly (2 months free). Your plan and its credits start as soon as Stripe confirms the payment, usually within a minute.
  • Upgrade whenever you like: it starts straight away. You pay the difference for the rest of the current period (on a yearly plan, the rest of the year), and Billing shows that amount, with VAT, before you confirm.
  • Monthly to yearly starts your year that day. You pay for the year, Billing shows the amount with VAT first, and what's left of this month's credits carries over.
  • Downgrade, or yearly to monthly, whenever you like: it starts on your next billing date (a yearly plan's is the end of its year).
  • Cancel in Billing: choose Cancel plan, move to Starter on the Starter card (or cancel in Stripe's billing portal). The plan stops renewing, and you keep it and its credits until the end of the period you paid for. Resume undoes it before then.

Subscriptions renew every month, or every year on a yearly plan, until you cancel. A yearly plan's credits come month by month all year.

Invoices

Every payment has an invoice from Stripe, with VAT shown. Find them in Billing on piye.dev, through the billing portal. Add or change your billing details and VAT number there too.

Payment methods

Add or change your card in Billing. Auto top-up and renewals use the saved payment method.

If a payment needs your bank's confirmation (3-D Secure), Piye emails you and Billing shows the payment to confirm.

Payment problems

  • A renewal fails: Stripe tries the card again and emails you. Your projects stay on your computer either way.
  • An auto top-up fails: nothing is charged and auto top-up turns off. Piye emails you; update your card in Billing and turn it on again.
  • You were charged twice, or something looks wrong: write to support@piye.dev.

Refunds

  • Changed your mind? Within 14 days of buying Pro, Pro+ or Ultra, or pay-as-you-go credits, Billing shows what you'd get back and a button to cancel and refund it, straight to the card you paid with (it usually arrives in 5 to 10 days). You get what you paid less the share of the plan's credits you used (on a yearly plan, the share of the whole year's credits), and any bought credits you haven't used. If you used all of a plan's credits, nothing is refunded for it. The plan ends at once and you move to Starter. Business and Enterprise aren't covered (they're agreements with companies). See the Terms of Service, or write to support@piye.dev.
  • When a payment is refunded, the credits it gave are taken back in proportion.
  • Chargebacks and disputes are handled with Stripe.

Teams

On Business, one invoice covers every seat, and the team's credits are pooled. The workspace owner manages billing; members use the credits. See The web console.
