Every choice is optional
On the new project card, open Advanced settings. Its summary line shows the current choices, for example "Piye picks · English · Website · Architect first". Everything starts on what Piye would choose for your idea; change only what matters to you. Piye follows everything you pick, and anything you ask for later in the chat wins.
At the top:
- Project name: named from your idea, or type one.
- Must-have features (optional): add the features the app must have, one at a time, for example "loyalty points".
Then five sections.
1. Design
- Theme: Let Piye choose colours that fit your idea, or pick one: Cream & gold, Midnight indigo, Ocean, Forest, Sunset, Rose, Mono, or Your colour. Piye uses its exact colours.
- Light or dark:
| Choice | What visitors get |
|---|---|
| Piye picks | Light or dark, whichever fits your idea |
| Light | Light only |
| Dark | Dark only |
| System | Both: the site follows each visitor's device, with a switch to change it |
- Design to follow: connect Figma, Framer, Canva or Webflow, or paste a link to a file or a website you love.
2. Language
- Main language: the language your website is written in.
- Add languages (optional): more languages for your visitors to choose from.
These are your app's languages, for your visitors. They don't change Piye's own language. (To choose the language Piye's AI writes to you in, see Visual settings.)
3. Platforms & stack
| Platform | What Piye makes |
|---|---|
| Website | An app that runs in the browser |
| Website + mobile app | The website first, then the phone app next to it, sharing its accounts and data |
| Mobile app only | An app for iPhone and Android |
Simple site: for a blog, CV, articles or a portfolio. Light and fast: no sign-in, database or payments.
Advanced setup chooses the technology behind each app (the tools it's written with). Piye's choice suits most apps; a developer you work with may have a preference.
Website:
| Choice | In plain words |
|---|---|
| Next.js (Piye's choice) | A complete web app: pages, a server and a database, easy for search engines to find |
| React + Vite | A light site that runs in the browser, with no sign-in, database or payments from Piye |
| Angular | Google's complete framework for web apps |
| Vite (TypeScript, no framework) | A plain, lightweight website |
Server (the part that keeps data and does the work behind the scenes):
| Choice | In plain words |
|---|---|
| Built into Next.js (Piye's choice) | The server lives inside the website |
| NestJS | A separate server, written in TypeScript |
| Python (FastAPI) | A separate server, written in Python |
| No backend | A site or app with no server |
Phone app:
| Choice | In plain words |
|---|---|
| React Native, Expo (Piye's choice) | One app for both iPhone and Android, which you can try in Piye's preview |
| Native (Swift + Kotlin) | Two apps: one written for iPhone, one written for Android |
See Kinds of phone apps for what this choice changes. When there are several apps, Piye keeps them side by side in one project (a "monorepo").
4. How Piye builds it
First, how it starts:
- Architect first (marked Recommended when your idea is short): Piye plans the data, pages and flows with you in the chat. You change what you want, then send it to be built.
- Build right away: Piye plans and writes the whole app in one pass. You see it in the preview as it's built.
Then the build power:
| Choice | What it does |
|---|---|
| Fast | Builds your whole app, every screen in one design. The quickest, about 4 to 8 minutes. |
| Auto | Piye picks the best AI for your app: the quickest for small apps, the richest for visual ones, the most complete for complex ones. |
| Customize | The same engine, with your choice of the AI model that builds your app, step by step, and which extra passes run (such as a Review pass that improves the whole build). |
Fast is the choice on Starter. Auto and Customize come with Pro and up. You can change this later in Settings, AI, How Piye builds.
5. Where it lives
The folder on your computer where the project is made. Piye suggests your Piye projects folder and recommends giving each project its own folder.
Look over the app after each build
On by default, in Settings, AI: when a build finishes, Piye opens every screen and fixes what's broken before you see it. Turning it off makes builds faster, but nothing is checked.
