Two ways to apply
The Review / Auto switch is beside the send button. Settings, AI, File changes sets the default.
| Review (the default) | Auto | |
|---|---|---|
| File edits and new files | Wait for your Accept, file by file | Apply as they land |
| Deleted files | Wait for you | Go to Piye's trash, so they can be restored |
| Commands | Wait for you | Run at once (in the command sandbox) |
| Dangerous actions | Always wait | Always wait |
Dangerous actions always wait for a click, marked Dangerous: Git push, deploys, rm, sudo, .env and other secret files, anything that can delete database data, a program's own delete command, and commands that change a folder outside the project or run outside the sandbox.
File cards
Each file the agent changes shows as a card in the chat with its diff. In Review, Accept or Reject it. In either mode, the card keeps an Undo.
- Secret files like
.envshow names only; their values stay on disk. - Deleting a tracked file shows its diff first. Deleting an untracked file asks you to type its name, because Git can't bring it back.
Undo
- One file: Undo on its card.
- A whole reply: the reply's Undo puts back every file it changed, including what its commands changed, as it was before.
- Retry a reply: Piye asks whether to restore the files it wrote first (Restore and retry) or keep them (Keep files and retry).
Changes the agent made in another project from the same chat each have their own Undo, in that project.
Seeing every change
The chat lists the files each reply touched. In Piye Studio, Review changes shows the last turn, uncommitted, staged and unstaged changes side by side, file by file, ready to commit. See Piye Studio and Source control.
Your tabs stay yours
While the agent writes, it doesn't take the front tab, reopen tabs you closed, or move your cursor. Changes to a file you have open show in place.
