The build task
Run Build Task (CmdShiftB) runs the project's build in the terminal. Piye uses the project's own:
- the
buildscript inpackage.json, or - a build task in
.vscode/tasks.json.
If there's neither, the terminal says how to add one.
The Testing view
Open Testing from the side panel's view menu (or View: Show Testing). It finds your tests by file, and lets you:
- Run test on one test, a file or all of them;
- see which passed and which failed, with the failure's output;
- Refresh tests after adding new ones.
Test frameworks
| Language | Tests |
|---|---|
| TypeScript, JavaScript | Jest, Vitest |
| Python | pytest, unittest classes (pytest must be installed in the project's Python) |
| Go | go test |
| Rust | cargo test |
| Java | Gradle or Maven |
| Kotlin | Gradle |
| C# | dotnet test |
| Swift | swift test |
| PHP | PHPUnit |
| Dart | dart test (Piye runs dart pub get first when a package needs it) |
| C, C++ | make test, from the Test command (not in the Testing view) |
Each language also has a Run (language) Tests command in the palette.
Ask the agent
The Code agent can run the project's own checks (type check, lint, tests and build) and triage what fails, or write tests for the code you changed. In Piye Studio these are ready-made starting points: Triage failing checks and Cover the changes with tests. See The Code agent.
