Piye

Terminal

Piye's terminal has two styles. Piye style shows each command as a card with suggestions from your project; Classic is a familiar terminal with split panes. Both run your real shell.

On this page

Open it

  • Toggle Terminal: Ctrl` shows or hides the terminal panel.
  • New Terminal: CtrlShift` on a Mac.
  • Focus Terminal: Cmd2.

The terminal runs your own shell (zsh, bash or the one you use), in the project's folder, with your usual tools and settings.

Two styles

Switch with Piye and Classic at the top right of the terminal panel.

Piye style

  • Each command is a card: the command, its output and how it ended, easy to read back. Copy a card's command and output in one click.
  • A running command gets the full terminal, with the keyboard, so interactive tools, prompts and menus work. When it ends, you're back at the input box.
  • Suggestions from your project: under the input, Next suggests commands that fit the project, read from its own files (its scripts, its workspace packages, database tools, Docker services, Makefiles, Python, Go and Rust setups, deploy files and Git state). No AI is involved. Commands that deploy, reset or need a name go into the box for you to read first, never run straight away.
  • The path bar shows where you are, the Git branch with its changes, and the date.
  • Send an error to the agent: on a failed command, send the error and its output to the Code agent, which reads them and fixes the cause.
  • Split right to see two terminals side by side.

Classic

A familiar terminal: groups of side-by-side panes, drag the line between two panes to resize them, and a list of terminals. Piye remembers each project's layout.

Ports

The Ports tab lists the ports your running programs listen on. Open one in Piye's own browser or in your system browser.

The agent's commands

Commands the Code agent runs show in its chat, as cards like these, with their output. They run in Piye's command sandbox when your computer has one. See Security.
