Piye

Tab and inline edit

Piye's AI inside the editor. Gray suggestions you accept with Tab, and Cmd+K to change a selection or a function by describing the change.

Suggestions as you type (Tab)

As you type, Piye's AI suggests the next lines in gray where your cursor is.

  • Tab takes the suggestion.
  • Esc lets it go, or just keep typing.

The AI reads the file around your cursor and your recent edits. Suggestions come one line at a time and run on a model built for fast completion, at a few hundredths of a credit each.

Turn them on or off in Settings, Code Intelligence, Suggestions as you type. They are off when Disable AI or Privacy Mode is on.

Inline edit (Cmd+K)

To change a piece of code by describing it:

  1. Select the code, or put the cursor inside a function (Piye takes the whole function).
  2. Press CmdK (CtrlK on Windows and Linux).
  3. Type what to change in Edit selection, for example "handle the empty list" or "convert to async/await", and press Apply.

The change is made in the editor, so CmdZ undoes it. Afterwards, Piye may suggest the next related edit in gray, which you take with Tab. Esc closes the box.

Secret files like .env are never sent to the AI: edit their values yourself.

When to use the agent instead

Inline edit is for one place in one file. For a change across files, a new feature or anything that needs running commands or checks, use the Code agent in Build mode.
