The Source Control view
Open it with CtrlShiftG on a Mac (CtrlShiftG elsewhere too). It lists the project's changes, staged and not, each file with its status. Click a file to see its diff.
If the folder isn't a Git repository yet, Start a repository makes one. Folders from outside Piye wait until you trust them before Piye runs Git for them.
Commit
- Write the message (CmdEnter commits on the current branch).
- Stage the files you want, or let Piye commit everything: with Commit every change when nothing is staged on (the default), a commit with nothing staged takes every change.
More commit options:
- Commit all changes.
- Amend last commit.
- Commit (Sign-off): adds a Signed-off-by line (or turn on Sign off commits in Settings, Version Control for every commit).
Discarding changes asks first, because it can't be undone.
Your name and email on commits come from your Git settings; change them in Settings, Version Control.
Branches
The branch picker shows your branches. Type to filter, or type a new name to create a branch.
Pull, push and fetch
Pull and push from the Source Control view.
- When you pull (Settings, Version Control): Merge joins the remote's commits to yours with a merge commit; Rebase replays yours on top of theirs.
- Check the remote for new commits fetches while a project is open, so Source Control shows what there is to pull. Nothing in your files changes.
When the Code agent pushes, it always asks first.
In the editor and the Explorer
- Changed, new and ignored files are marked in the Explorer.
- Added, changed and removed lines are marked beside the code; click one to see what it was.
- Who changed this line shows the author and when, at the end of the cursor's line.
- The Timeline in the Explorer shows the open file's history.
Merge conflicts
Merge Conflict: Open in Compare View shows both sides of each conflict, so you choose what to keep.
What the agent changed
Every change the Code agent makes is listed in its chat, file by file, with Undo. In Piye Studio, the review shows Last Agent Turn, Uncommitted, Staged and Unstaged changes, and the commit bar can start the message from what you asked the chat. See Review, Auto and undo.
