Piye

Talking with Piye

The chat is where you ask Piye questions, plan with it, ask for changes and get things fixed. Here is how to use it well.

The chat

The chat sits beside your app in Visual. Everything you'd say to a developer, you say here: questions, ideas, changes, problems. Piye answers in plain words and shows what it's doing as it works.

To work on the preview full width, hide the chat with its hide button; bring it back with Show the chat.

The chat: your request, and Piye's answer with what's in the app.

Four ways to talk

Choose the mode under the message box:

ModeWhat it's for
AskQuestions about your app. Nothing changes. "How do customers cancel a booking?"
ArchitectPlan something together first: the pages, what the app keeps, how people move through it. When the plan is right, send it to be built.
BuildMake a change or build a feature. "Add a loyalty card that gives a free coffee after nine."
Fix ErrorsFind what's broken and fix it. Describe the problem, or just send, and Piye checks the whole app.

When you're not sure which to use, use Build for changes and Ask for questions.

Ask for changes that land well

  • One idea per message for big changes. Small tweaks can go together.
  • Say where: "on the home page", "in the booking form", "for staff only".
  • Say what good looks like: "the button should stand out", "this list should show the newest first".
  • Point at it: attach a screenshot and mark it up, or click the element in the preview with Visual Edit and choose Ask AI about this element.

For a bigger piece of work, such as a new area of the app, Architect first gets you a better result: you agree on the plan before anything changes.

Add files and pictures

Use the attach button to add photos, your logo, documents and spreadsheets (a Google Sheets link works too). Piye reads them and uses them. For screenshots, Open and mark up lets you draw on them to show exactly what you mean.

While Piye works

You don't have to wait in silence:

  • Tell the running build something. Type and send: Piye reads it at its next step. Useful for "use green, not blue" while it's still building.
  • Queue what's next. Add a message to the queue and it runs when Piye is done.
  • Stop. Stop the current work; what's already done stays, and you can undo it from History.

After each build or change

Piye tells you, in plain words, what it made and how to try it. After a build, a card shows your app: what's in it, and how to try it, including a demo account to sign in with while you build.

The credits the work used show when it finishes. See Credits and usage.

If Piye spots a problem while you use the preview (a page that crashes, a form that fails), a card says Piye caught a problem. Press Fix what Piye caught to have it fixed.

Your chats

  • New chat starts a fresh conversation. The old one stays in Chat history.
  • Chat history lists earlier chats; open one to continue it.
  • On any message you can copy it, edit and send again, or retry (it opens your message to send again; nothing is sent until you press Send).
  • Fork starts a new chat from any reply, keeping the original.
  • Pin a message to keep it at the top of the chat.

When a chat gets very long, Piye keeps the earlier messages as a summary so the conversation can go on.

Tip

Start a new chat for a new topic. Piye still knows your app (it reads the project), and a short chat costs fewer credits than a long one.

The language Piye writes in

Piye answers in the language you choose in Settings, General, Piye answers in. This is Piye's language with you; your app's own languages are chosen separately (see New project options).
