What your app can do
Payments in apps built with Piye run on Stripe, the payment service used by millions of businesses. Ask for what you need, and Piye builds it:
- Checkout for products, bookings, tickets or anything you sell;
- Subscriptions, with a page where customers manage or cancel them;
- Deposits and partial payments;
- Fees shown as their own line, never hidden in the price;
- Promo codes;
- Refunds, in full or in part;
- what happens after payment: the order is created, the ticket is issued, the booking is confirmed, exactly once.
Your app sells in your own currency (Piye takes it from your computer's region when it creates the app), and Stripe shows your customers cards plus the payment methods common in their country.
While you build: test mode
In the preview, payments run in Stripe's test mode through Piye: nothing is charged and no money moves. To pay on the test checkout page, use Stripe's test card:
- card number
4242 4242 4242 4242 - any future expiry date
- any three-digit code
Then check that what should happen after payment happened: the order, the email (in the Outbox), the confirmation page.
Going live: your own Stripe account
Your customers pay you, through your own Stripe account. When you publish, Piye asks for it:
- Sign in to Stripe, or create an account.
- In Stripe, go to Developers, API keys and copy the Secret key. Start in test mode: the key begins with
sk_test_. - Paste it into Piye. Piye sets up Stripe's payment notices for your app when it publishes, so payments are confirmed even if a customer closes the page.
- Try a test payment on your live site.
- When Stripe has checked your business, paste your live key (it begins with
sk_live_). From then on, payments are real.
Important
Stripe checks your business before real payments can start. Payments begin once it has finished. Your key is kept in your computer's secure storage and sent only to your host when you publish.
Where to see payments
Payments, customers, subscriptions and refunds are in your Stripe dashboard. If your app has an admin panel, Piye can show sales there too: ask, for example, "show me this week's bookings and money in the admin".
