Before you start
You need:
- An account at a host, the company whose computers keep your website online. Piye publishes to Vercel by default, and also to Cloudflare Pages, Railway and Hostinger. Vercel has a free plan to start. Change the host in Settings, Publishing, Host.
- The accounts your app uses, if any: email, payments, phone verification, AI. Piye tells you which, one at a time. See Going live on your own accounts.
You don't need GitHub or any developer tools.
Publish, step by step
- Press Publish at the top of the window. If your project has several apps, choose what to publish.
- Before it goes online, Piye checks your app so it works for everyone, not just on this computer. It builds your app the way your host will, and opens every page. This takes a few minutes; you can keep working.
- Piye shows what your app needs to go live, as a short list:
- What it connects to: the accounts your app's code uses. Connect each one, with step-by-step help.
- What visitors expect: a privacy policy page when your site collects personal information, terms of service when it takes payments, and a way to reach you. Press Ask the AI to add them and Piye writes them for your app, in plain words, linked from every page.
- Your own domain, if you want one (optional). See Your own web address.
- Press Check your app to run the check again after changes. When everything is ready, the card says Ready to go online.
- Under Publish your app, choose where to Publish to (Vercel by default; the first time, Piye opens your browser so you sign in to it once), see Your address, and press Publish now.
- Piye sends your app and its settings to your host, waits for it to go live, then checks it works online.
When it's done: Your app is live, on your own accounts, with its address. On Vercel, the address is your project's name followed by .vercel.app until you add your own domain.
If something stops it
Piye says what, in plain words:
- "It doesn't build the way your host builds it yet."
- "Some pages don't open when it runs the way it does online."
- "Part of it only works on this computer."
Press Fix what stops it going online, and the AI fixes it. Then check again.
If the new version doesn't work once it's online, Piye puts the previous version back by itself and tells you: It didn't work online: the previous version is back. Your live site is never left broken.
Publishing again
After you change your app, press Publish again. Piye checks only what changed since last time ("Checked before; nothing has changed since") and publishes the new version.
While it publishes
In Settings, Publishing:
- Tell me when it's done: a notification when publishing finishes while Piye is in the background.
- Show what's happening: open the step-by-step details while publishing.
- AI help when something goes wrong: offer to explain and fix a failed publish.
Phone apps
A phone app's server is published here too: Publish offers Put your phone app's server online. Do it before sending your phone app to the stores, since the app gets its data, sign-in and payments from it. Once it's live, Piye points the phone app at it. Then see The App Store and Google Play.
