Piye

Bring in a developer

Invite a developer, or a partner who doesn't code, into your project. They get your project, your notes and a written brief, and your version stays yours.

Why bring someone in

Visual builds real software, so a developer can pick up exactly where you are: no export, no rewrite. People invite a developer to:

  • add something unusual that's easier to do by hand;
  • connect the app to another company's system;
  • review the app before a big launch;
  • take over day-to-day work as the product grows.

You can also invite a partner who doesn't code, like a co-founder, who then works on the app with Piye, the way you do.

Invite them

  1. Press Invite at the top of the window.
  2. Tell them about your project in a few words. Add the features you want next, the look and feel, and anything they should know.
  3. Let Piye write the brief: what your app does, what's done, what's left and where to start. It's the first thing they read.
  4. The first time, connect your GitHub account (free to create). Piye keeps a private copy of your project there, so the people you invite can open it, and you stay in control of who can.
  5. Enter their email, choose Developer or Not a developer, and send.

They get an email with a link that works for 3 days. You see when they join.

The Handoff card
Invite: a developer or a partner, your notes, and what they get.

What they get

  • A developer opens the project in Piye's Code side (or, if you approve, in their own code editor), working on a separate copy of your project's history, so your version stays yours.
  • A partner opens it in Visual, with no technical tools in their way.

Your passwords and keys, your chats and Piye's memory of your project stay on your computer. They set up their own.

Their work comes back to you

When they're done, they send their work back from Piye. You see it in Invite (Handoff) and choose to get their work. Your developer, or Piye, can then help you look over the changes before you keep them. Your preview shows the result.

Take back access

In Handoff, see everyone you invited. Remove someone and they lose access to the project straight away; their own copy stays on their computer.

For every detail, see Handoff and invites.

Working side by side

Because Visual and Code open the same project, you can keep building in Visual while a developer works in Code. Their changes show in your preview, and yours show in their editor and history.
