What your app gets
When your idea needs accounts, Piye builds sign-in into your app:
- Sign up and sign in with email and a password, with a code sent by email to confirm the address.
- Continue with Google, with one click.
- Pages only signed-in people can see, and pages for everyone.
- Roles, when your app has them: for example customers, staff and an admin (you), each seeing what's theirs.
- An account menu where people see their details and sign out.
Ask for what you need in the chat, for example "only staff can see the bookings page" or "let customers sign in with Google".
While you build
Everything works in the preview with no setup:
- Google sign-in goes through Piye's own Google app, so "Continue with Google" works straight away.
- Confirmation codes and sign-in emails land in the Outbox.
- The demo account lets you sign in at once. Its details are in the chat after a build.
See and change sign-in
Click the server on the Blueprint and open Sign-in in its inspector. It shows:
- which sign-in methods your app offers, with a switch for each;
- whether the keys each method needs are there;
- the callback addresses Google needs (one for while you build on this computer, one for your published site).
Check live app asks the running app which methods it really serves. If sign-in isn't set up yet, the inspector offers to set it up: Piye asks before installing anything and never overwrites your files.
Going live: Google sign-in
Your published app can't use Piye's Google app. It needs your own Google sign-in app, which takes about ten minutes, once:
- Open Google Cloud's sign-in apps page (Piye's Open Google Cloud button takes you there) and create a sign-in app of the type Web application.
- Add the two addresses Piye shows you: the Authorized JavaScript origin and the Authorized redirect URI. Piye has a copy button for each.
- Paste the Client ID and Client secret into Piye.
- In Google's Audience page, press Publish app. Until you do, only 100 people you list as testers can sign in with Google.
Until your Google app is added, email sign-in keeps working on the live site. Piye checks the Client ID and secret with Google when you paste them.
