What your app sends
Apps built with Piye send their emails in your app's own look, with your name and colours: sign-up codes, welcome messages, receipts and order confirmations, booking reminders, password resets, and any other email you ask for ("email me when someone books", "send customers a reminder the day before").
While you build: the Outbox
While you build, emails don't go to anyone's real inbox. They land in Piye's Outbox, where you can open each one and see exactly what your customers will get. See Outbox.
Going live: your email service
To send real emails from your published app, you need two things:
- An email service. Piye uses Resend, which is quick to set up and has a free plan.
- A domain you own, like
yourshop.com, so emails come from an address likehello@yourshop.comand land in inboxes, not in spam.
When you publish, Piye asks for them and walks you through it:
- Sign in to Resend (or create an account).
- In Resend's Domains, add your domain, add the records it shows where you bought the domain, and wait until it says Verified.
- In Resend's API keys, create a key and paste it into Piye.
- Enter your From address, on that domain, for example
Brasa <hello@brasa.pt>.
Piye then checks that your app can send email.
Tip
If your website is published on Vercel and your domain is there too, adding the domain's records is the easy part: Piye shows exactly what to add. See Your own web address.
Getting into inboxes
Big email providers like Gmail and Yahoo check that email really comes from you. Three settings on your domain prove it, and Resend gives you all three to add: SPF (which servers may send for your domain), DKIM (a signature on every email) and DMARC (what to do with email that fails those checks). Piye's App Operations shows whether they're in place.
Newsletters and automations
In App Operations, Automations, connect your email service once, and Piye can set up automatic emails (such as a welcome series or sign-up alerts to you) and keep your list of subscribers in Resend, ready for newsletters.
